Arab Film Studio and Film Independent, in partnership with the U.S. Mission to the UAE, present an in-depth Editing Workshop in Abu Dhabi for aspiring editors.
World-class experts from American industry leader Film Independent present a 4-day immersive workshop, which will be taught by U.S. award-winning documentary editor and producer, Alejandro Valdes-Rochin and facilitated by Louay Khraish, Associate Director of International Programs at Film Independent.
Workshop Objectives:

Analyze the story from an editing perspective.

The art and craft of storytelling with a special focus in non-fictional formats.

How to create a structure that keeps your audience engaged and emotionally involved.

Strategies for identifying characters to determine protagonist, antagonist, and peripheral characters.

Instructions in current workflow practices, film analysis and discuss the creative collaboration with the director.

Exposing aspiring editors to the fundamental tools and principles used by the editor to build engaging and layered narratives.

Gain an understanding of the fundamental tools and principles used to build engaging and layered narratives.
If you are an emerging editor and aspire to be immersed in the art of editing, please submit your application and a motivation letter explaining why you are interested in editing and why you want to attend the workshop (maximum 500 words).

The workshop will take place from September 10-13, 2024, at Yas Creative Hub, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
