AFS SOUND FOR VISUAL MEDIA 2024

AFS Sound for Visual Media offers an in-depth understanding of location sound recording and sound design for visual media. Participants will gain a working knowledge of industry-standard DAWs and learn procedures for handling production audio, sound effects editing, foley recording, and final mixing.

This 6-weekend program targets UAE national and resident emerging post-production sound engineers (sound editors, sound designers, sound mixers) interested in visual media, as well as experienced location sound recordists and boom operators aiming to enhance their skills.

Participants must have a working knowledge of Mac/Apple computers and some basic video editing experience and basic DAW experience (e.g., Logic X, Ableton, Cubase, Nuendo, DaVinci, Pro Tools)

John M. Kochanczyk
John is an expert in sound design, audio system mixing, and post-production with over a decade of experience. He has worked on projects ranging from live and theatrical audio to commercials, music videos, and narrative filmmaking. A graduate of the Vancouver Film School, John specializes in sound design for visual media and excels in sound capture, mixing, and post-production processes. Currently partnering with Dubai-based post-production facility Mile Studios, John produces sound for feature films, documentaries, music videos, and television commercials.
