Abu Dhabi, UAE, 16 April 2025 – At CinemaCity, Al Qana, Abu Dhabi last night (15 April), the cast and crew of Desert Rose Films and Fujairah Films’ feature film Mountain Boy walked the red carpet alongside government dignitaries, children and staff from the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Special Education in Abu Dhabi and the country’s film industry leaders at the film’s official premiere.
With an address from Zainab Shaheen, Director of Mountain Boy, and Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of Abu Dhabi Film Commission, guests witnessed the award presentation of Best Young Actor in a Feature Film from Chelsea film Festival, New York City to the film’s lead Naser Almessabi. Naser plays Suhail, a young Emirati boy with autism who, flees to live in the Fujairah Mountains after his father shuns him, not understanding his determination.
Aligned with the objectives of the UAE’s Year of Community 2025 and showcasing incredible Emirati talent in front and behind the camera, the film is shot solely in the UAE and is a testament to Emirati culture, heritage and talent with more than 32 Emirati cast and crew members and 32 UAE-based companies involved in the making of the feature which has won 22 awards from international film festivals to date.
Supported by Abu Dhabi Film Commission, part of Creative Media Authority, Mountain Boy will be released at cinemas across the UAE and GCC tomorrow (17 April 2025) by The Plot Pictures and has a run time of 90 minutes.
